Admissions

If you would like your child to attend our school, please see full details of our admission arrangements below.

Derby City Council process our admissions arrangements for:

  • Reception admissions for September 2024 starters
  • Year 3 admissions for September 2024 starters

Chellaston Infant and Junior Schools will be processing all:

  • In-year admissions applications  for Year 1, Year 2,Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.
  • In-year admission applications for Reception and  Year 3 (from September of the year of entry),

Applying for a first infant (Reception) or junior school place (Year 3)

This process is called first admissions and is dealt with directly by the local authority. You will receive a letter directly to your home address in the November of the school year prior to the next academic year when your child will be moving from the infant school.  Find out more about when and how to apply.

Please note that if your child already attends Chellaston Infant School, this does not automatically give them a place in Year 3 at Chellaston Junior School. You must still apply through the Local Authority for your Year 3 place.

Once you have accepted the place then school will contact you with some transition arrangements.

Chellaston Infant and Junior School currently has a Pupil Admission Number of 90 in our reception and year 3 each year and these are organised over three classes.

Please go to the Derby City Council interactive map to see the catchment area in more detail.

Moving schools during term time

You may be wish to move your child to the infant or junior school within a school year. This is possible, subject to available places. You must apply directly to the school using the admission form below. You will be informed with 10 working days of the outcome of your application.

If you are offered a space for your child then a start date is set and a transition process begins.

If you would like to visit our school, please contact the office to arrange an appointment.
